My path in life
After graduating High School, I went to the University of Florida. GO GATORS!! (never went to a football game.) There, I majored in advertising, and got involved in many actitivies including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Although I was an ad major, my dream was to act. I did a few college plays and I KNEW that was what I had to do. I told my folks that after graduation I wanted to study theatre at the Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting 2-year program in New York. I auditioned, got in (only 17 people accepted) and was on my way!

Boy was New York pricey. So, after three years, I moved back to Orlando to work and save money. I'll be "stationed" here until June 2002. Then Back to the Big Apple

Why I went natural
I don't have any horror stories about how all my hair fell out and how I my scalp was fried to a crisp every 6 weeks.(Although I think my hair looks SO much better now). I just began looking at women with natural hair, and I asked myself "Do I perm because I want to, or because I think that's what I was suppose to do, like brushing my teeth"

I began REALLY thinking about making the big cut around Dec 1999. The problem was I was in school doing plays back to back, and I didn't want to deal with new hair. Plus i didn't know where to start.

In Sept. 2000 I began gathering information. Two sites which really helped me was nappyhair.com and naturallycurly.com. In Oct 2000 I stopped perming and Dec 2000 I cut of about 11 inches of relaxed hair, leaving about 1.5 inches of beautiful natural hair
